MBTI COMMISSIONER SEEKS STRONGER COLLABORATION WITH MINISTRY OF WORKS

The Honourable Commissioner for Business, Trade and Investment (MBTI), Hon. Omoh Anabor, has paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Works, seeking deeper collaboration to strengthen the business environment and drive investment into Edo State.

Speaking during the visit, Hon. Anabor said the purpose of the engagement was to reinforce inter‑ministerial cooperation, noting that no ministry can function effectively in isolation. He emphasized that collaboration between ministries is essential for creating an enabling environment for business growth, investor confidence, and sustainable economic development.

According to him, coming from the private sector has shaped his belief in productive ventures across sectors such as health, education, and enterprise development. He stressed that while government offices are occupied for a period, the impact of service delivery must go beyond individual tenures.

He stated that investors consider infrastructure, market access, and ease of logistics when choosing locations for business. This, he said, makes cooperation between MBTI and Works critical, especially in ensuring that infrastructure supports business expansion, employment creation, and an improved investment climate.

Hon. Anabor also touched on the need for ministries to carefully steward government resources, explaining that effective collaboration helps to channel limited resources into high‑impact areas. He further urged the Works Ministry to verify and follow up on essential equipment and facilities that had previously been relocated, stressing the importance of ensuring that tools and units needed for productivity remain accessible.

The MBTI Commissioner was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. F. N. Edokpolor, and other management staff from MBTI. They were warmly received by the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Hon. Felix Akhabue along with other management staff, including Engr. Obanor. During the visit, Akhabue personally took the MBTI team on a tour of the wood section within the Ministry of Works, showcasing facilities and operations critical to supporting the state’s business and industrial activities.

Hon. Felix Akhaue, a former Commissioner in MBTI (then known as the Ministry of Wealth Creation), thanked the MBTI Commissioner for the visit and commended his proactive approach. He assured him of the Ministry of Works’ full cooperation, noting that their mandate directly supports business activities across the state. He also urged the management of MBTI to support Hon. Anabor to succeed just as they supported him during his tenure several years ago.

Hon. Akhabue highlighted that government functions are interlinked, and that such engagements strengthen the administration’s collective ability to deliver on its development agenda. He praised Hon. Anabor’s passion and said his ministry is ready to work closely with MBTI to achieve shared objectives for the benefit of Edo people.

The meeting ended with a mutual commitment to sustained communication, joint planning, and continuous collaboration to enhance service delivery and economic growth in the state.
