As part of efforts to deepen public-private collaboration for economic growth, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Business, Trade and Cooperatives (MBTC), Mrs. Felicia Edokpolor, led a high-powered delegation of management staff on a courtesy visit to Presco PLC, one of Nigeria’s foremost agro-industrial companies.
During the visit, Mrs. Edokpolor expressed the ministry’s interest in partnering with Presco PLC in areas of mutual benefit, especially in light of the ministry’s upcoming Mega Trade Fair and International Industrialisation Day scheduled for September and November, 2025 respectively.
She extended a formal invitation to Presco PLC to participate actively in the fair, noting that the event will serve as a platform for showcasing local content, fostering investments, and strengthening trade networks across Edo State and beyond.
The Permanent Secretary praised Presco’s long-standing contributions to the state’s economy, particularly its expansive operations in Orhionmwon Local Government Area. She acknowledged the company’s remarkable growth and job creation efforts, which currently support a workforce of over 7,000 employees, many of whom are from host communities.
In his response, the management of Presco PLC, led by its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Reji George,welcomed the ministry’s delegation and thanked the Edo State Government for its ongoing support.
They reaffirmed the company’s commitment to contributing to the socio-economic development of the state. Presco PLC highlighted its expansion projects in Orhionmwon LGA, which include the development of additional plantation land and the installation of modern milling facilities to increase palm oil production capacity.
The company emphasized its dedication to sustainable agricultural practices, local employment, and corporate social responsibility initiatives in health, education, and infrastructure.
The visit marks another milestone in the ministry’s drive to build productive partnerships with key players in the private sector, as it continues to pursue Governor Monday Okpebholo’s vision of a diversified and inclusive economy for Edo State.
